Bill Tracking

This section of our website is active when the state Legislature is in Session.  The 81st Texas Legislature convened on Monday, January 13, 2009. Texas Retailers Association tracks legislation in 28 different categories ranging from Alcoholic Beverage to Credit to Taxation to Workers' Compensation using a customized legislative tracking service to stay on top of the issues important to our members. 

During the 80th Texas Legislative Session, TRA tracked more than 950 pieces of legislation,  Some of these bills benefited retailers. However, most were harmful to your business. TRA worked with the bill sponsors to amend the bills so that they benefited your business, or worked hard to defeat those pieces of legislation that would damage your business.

As a member of the Texas Retailers Association, you will receive electronic Texas Updates during legislative session, succinctly describing the latest political and legislative news. You will also be able to access a listing of bills of interest, authors, and latest status in the Legislative Watch section of the members only portion of this site (activated when the Legislature is in Session).
